Some arrangements have been changed due to Covid restrictions being extended.
Shop window displays, Model-making challenges, Art competitions for children and adults.
30th June 11.00 a.m. Special ceremonial opening
t.b.a. September 12.00 - 5.00 p.m. Display in the Jubilee Hall of art and modelling competition entries and operating models. Refreshments available.
7.30 p.m. Music and dance in the Jubilee Hall with live salsa band 'Iguana Tropicana' and support.
All events are subject to compliance with any lockdown rules that may still apply
Art and Modelling Challenges
Dates for submission of models and artwork are now extended to the end of August.
Railway picture artwork
You are invited to draw or paint a picture of a railway subject of your choice. More than one picture can be entered if you wish, in whichever medium you prefer - provided it is actually done by hand, not a digital creation!
Please put your name at the bottom right of the picture and if you are at school then also your age, form number and school below or on the back of the picture. Adult entries should have a signature at the bottom of the picture or attached to the back with contact details.
Each entrant will receive a 'goodie bag' and there will be cash and other prizes given in each of the age groups and categories below:
Colour picture: Infant, Junior, Secondary, Adult
Black & white picture: Infant, Junior, Secondary, Adult
'Home Sweet Home' modelling challenge
You are invited to make a house or holiday home out of a former railway carriage or wagon More than one model can be entered if you wish and they can made be to whatever scale you prefer. Imagination will count for this as much as modelling skill!
Each entrant will receive a 'goodie bag' and there will be cash prizes for the best model and runner-up in separate categories for under-18s and adults.
'Kit-Bash-Bosh!' fun modelling challenge
You are invited to adapt a kit or parts of it to make something it wasn't intended to be! Parts from other kits or the scrap box may be used for your creation. The end result may be of any scale and any genre, whether realistic or pure fantasy!
Each entrant will receive a 'goodie bag' and there will be cash prizes for the most imaginative model and for the runner-up.
All entries should be received at the Mevagissey Model Railway by 31st August and will go on display with prize awards at the village's Jubilee Hall on a Saturday afternoon date (t.b.a.) in September. Collection can be made at 5pm on the day at the Jubilee Hall or during opening hours on a later day from the Model Railway.
